Connect Vidreno to Claude to find hosted videos, update their settings and ask for embed codes without leaving your conversation. For the shared permissions and limits, start with the MCP overview; if you use ChatGPT, follow the ChatGPT guide instead.

Before you start

You need a Vidreno creator account. Free creator accounts can connect too; advertiser and viewer accounts can't. Your normal Vidreno storage limits and account restrictions still apply.

Claude's official custom connector guide currently lists Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise support, with Free limited to one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner must add the connector to the organisation before members can connect their own accounts.

Use Claude on the web or Claude Desktop for setup. Menus can change: the supplied screenshots use Settings → Connectors, while Claude's current documentation calls the personal connector area Customize → Connectors.

Open Settings and add the connector

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors. If your version uses Customize → Connectors, open that instead.
  2. For an individual account, choose +, then Add custom connector.
  3. If asked for a name, enter Vidreno. Enter https://vidreno.com/mcp as the remote MCP server URL.
  4. Leave the optional OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret in Advanced settings empty. You don't need an API key, bearer token or custom headers.
  5. Choose Add. Open the Vidreno connector and choose Connect when offered to begin authentication.

On Team and Enterprise, ask an Owner or Primary Owner to first open Organization settings → Connectors, choose Add, then Custom → Web, enter the same URL and choose Add. Members then open their own Connectors area, find the connector the owner added and choose Connect. Each person signs in to their own Vidreno account.

This is a custom connector setup. You don't need to find Vidreno in Claude's connector directory.

The screenshot shows a connection in progress, not a completed connection. It still says you're not connected. Continue through Vidreno's sign in and approval before trying a prompt.

Sign in to Vidreno and approve access

  1. In the Vidreno window, sign in with your usual Vidreno account if needed.
  2. Check that the requesting app is Claude and that Connecting as shows the creator account you want to use.
  3. Review the permissions. Claude can see your hosted videos, settings, embed codes and analytics. It can also rename, describe, change visibility, delete and upload hosted videos.
  4. Choose Approve to continue, or Deny to cancel. After approving, return to Claude.

The account details in this example are hidden for privacy. On your own screen, check them before approving. If the wrong account appears, sign out of Vidreno in the dashboard and start the connection again.

Only approve a connection you started yourself. These permissions allow real changes to your library. Vidreno on Demand films, billing, earnings and advertiser data aren't part of this connection.

Try your first prompt

Start a conversation in Claude and ask:

  • "Use Vidreno to list my hosted videos."
  • "Give me a responsive embed code for my video called Studio tour."

Replace Studio tour with one of your own video titles. If Claude doesn't use Vidreno, open the + menu in the chat, choose Connectors and enable Vidreno for that conversation. Review any tool permission request before allowing it.

A successful Claude response showing that it used the Vidreno MCP integration and returned responsive HTML embed code for a hosted video

This example shows Claude using the Vidreno tools and returning an embed code. Your reply will use your own video's details. See embedding a video on your website for where to put that code.

Once that works, try asking Claude to rename a video, make it private or read your hosted video analytics. Changes appear in your Vidreno library. Deletion is permanent and requires explicit confirmation.

Uploading a video from Claude

Claude can't send a video file to Vidreno. Attaching a video to your Claude message doesn't upload it, however small the file is, because Claude has no way to hand the file over. Uploads from Claude always go through your browser instead:

  1. Ask Claude to upload a video and give it a title, for example "Upload a new video to Vidreno called Studio tour". You can add a description and say whether it should be public or private.
  2. Claude replies with a personal upload link on vidreno.com. Open it in your browser while signed in to the same Vidreno account.
  3. The page shows the title and settings you gave Claude. Choose the video on your device and let the upload finish, just as when uploading from the dashboard.
  4. Return to Claude and tell it the upload is done. It can then check the new video and give you the embed code.

The link is personal, works for a single upload and lasts about an hour. If it expires, ask for a new one. Your usual storage limits apply.

Attaching a video in the chat only works in ChatGPT, which can pass the file to Vidreno itself. If you attached a video in Claude and it couldn't upload it, nothing went wrong on your side: ask Claude for an upload link instead.

If the connection doesn't finish

  • Check the address is exactly https://vidreno.com/mcp.
  • If you can't add a custom connector, check Claude's plan limits and, on Team or Enterprise, ask an owner to add it first.
  • If Vidreno rejects the account type, sign in with a creator account.
  • If you cancelled approval or closed the sign in window, return to the connector and start connecting again.
  • If Claude says it can't see the tools, check that Vidreno is enabled for the conversation.
  • If Claude couldn't upload a video you attached, that's expected. Ask it for an upload link and finish the upload in your browser.

If you're still stuck, contact Vidreno support. Don't send passwords or authentication codes.

Disconnect from Claude

  1. Return to Settings → Connectors, or Customize → Connectors in versions using that label.
  2. Find Vidreno. Choose Remove, or open the three dots next to the connector to find its removal option.
  3. Follow Claude's prompts to remove the connection. Team and Enterprise owners can remove an organisation connector from Organization settings → Connectors; this affects its availability to the organisation.

Turning a connector off for one conversation isn't the same as removing it. Removing the connection stops Claude using it for future requests and leaves your Vidreno videos untouched. It doesn't delete information already in your Claude chats. You can connect again by repeating sign in and approval.

Claude documents the current removal steps in its custom connector guide. If you can't access Claude to remove the connection, contact Vidreno support.
