Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Vidreno, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Vidreno regarding your use of the platform.

Service Description

Vidreno is operated by Massive Monkey Ltd., a company registered in the Isle of Man ("Vidreno", "we", "us"). Vidreno has two products:

• Video Hosting: upload and store video content, share videos with others through links, embed videos on external websites and apps, and manage your video library through our dashboard.
• Vidreno on Demand (Films): publish a film on vidreno.com with its own film page and crew credits, and choose whether viewers watch it free, rent it or buy it. Viewers watch films on vidreno.com, in the embedded player and in the Vidreno apps.

The service includes the vidreno.com website, the embedded player, the help centre, connections from AI assistants, and the Vidreno apps: the desktop app for macOS and Windows, the Apple TV app and the mobile apps for iOS and Android (and any other apps we release later). Where an app is distributed through an app store, that store's own terms also apply to your use of the app.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our service at any time with reasonable notice.

Publishing films

This section applies to you when you publish a film on Vidreno on Demand ("filmmaker" means the account that publishes it).

Licence you grant us. You keep ownership of your film and every right in it. By uploading a film and publishing it, you grant Vidreno a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, encode and transcode, encrypt, stream and otherwise make the film (together with its trailer, poster, stills, title, synopsis and credits) available to viewers on vidreno.com, in the embedded player and in Vidreno's apps, and to use those materials to promote the film and the service, including on film pages, filmmaker profiles, search results and in our sitemaps and structured data. The licence lasts for as long as the film is published on Vidreno and, for viewers who have already rented or bought it, as described under "Withdrawing a film" below.

Content protection. You choose, film by film, whether Vidreno protects your film with digital rights management. Today, rented and purchased films are streamed through access-controlled, short-lived playback links tied to the viewer's entitlement, and films you leave unprotected continue to be delivered that way. When you turn protection on for a film, you authorise us to encrypt it, to apply Apple FairPlay Streaming on Apple platforms (such as macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Apple TV) and Google Widevine on other operating systems and browsers (such as Windows, Android and Chrome), or any successor or additional technology we choose for a platform, to issue playback licences (decryption keys) to viewers on your behalf under these terms, and to restrict playback of that film to devices, apps and browsers that support the required protection. Vidreno chooses which protection technology to use on each platform and may change it; protection takes effect from the moment we switch it on for your film, and a film stays in the clear until its protected version is ready. You can turn protection off again at any time, after which the film is streamed in the clear through the access-controlled links described above. We do not promise that any protection measure will prevent every unauthorised copy.

Your warranties. You confirm that you own or have obtained every right needed to grant the licence above for every part of the film, including the screenplay, performances, music and sound recordings, footage, images, fonts and any other third-party material; that publishing the film and our use of it under the licence does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law; and that you have any releases and consents needed from the people who appear in it. You are responsible for any royalties or fees owed to rights holders, collecting societies or guilds as a result of your film being streamed on Vidreno. You will reimburse us for losses we suffer because one of these confirmations was untrue. Material produced with AI tools is third-party material for the purposes of this section: you are responsible for making sure the tool's licence permits commercial use of its output, that no part of the output infringes anyone's rights, and for any disclosure the law requires.

Prices and your share. You set the rental and purchase prices for your film within the limits we allow. We pay you the share shown on our pricing page at the time of each sale, after the payment provider's processing fee, under the payout terms shown in your dashboard. Refunds given to viewers reduce the amount payable to you for that order.

Withdrawing a film. You can withdraw your film at any time by unpublishing it (it stays in your account but is no longer offered to viewers) or, if nobody has paid for it, by deleting it. New rentals, purchases and free plays stop at once. Viewers who already rented or bought the film keep their access: a rental runs to the end of its period, and a purchase keeps streaming for as long as your account exists. For that reason a film that has paying viewers can be unpublished but not deleted, and its main video cannot be removed without a replacement, for as long as those viewers' licences last. If you close your account, access for existing buyers ends when your films are deleted. We may also unpublish or remove a film that we believe breaks these terms or the law, or on receipt of a credible rights-holder complaint.

Watching, renting and buying films

This section applies to you when you watch a film on Vidreno on Demand as a viewer.

Free viewing. Films marked free to watch can be played on their film page without an account. Free viewing is for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment.

Rentals. A rental is a time-limited, personal, non-transferable licence to stream the film through Vidreno. The rental period is shown before you pay and starts the first time you press play; when it ends, access ends.

Purchases. A purchase is an ongoing, personal, non-transferable licence to stream the film through Vidreno for as long as the film remains on the service. A purchase is not a transfer of ownership of the film or of a copy of it, and it does not include a download of the file.

Devices, apps and protected playback. Films play on vidreno.com, in the embedded player and in the Vidreno apps on supported devices and browsers. Rented and purchased films are delivered through access-controlled playback links. Each filmmaker decides which of their films are protected with digital rights management; once we switch it on, a protected film is delivered with Apple FairPlay Streaming on Apple devices and Google Widevine on other operating systems and browsers, and plays only on a supported device, browser or app (the first are Safari on Mac and the Vidreno app for Mac, with others following). Supported devices and browsers may differ between the two systems, and some older devices, browsers or operating systems may not be able to play protected films. We may issue, renew and withdraw playback licences for your devices as needed to deliver the film, and we may limit the number of devices that can be used.

One stream per film at a time. A rented or purchased film can play in one place per account at a time. While it is playing on one device or tab, a second play of the same film on your account is refused until the first stops; different films may play at the same time.

What you may not do. You may not circumvent, disable or interfere with FairPlay, Widevine or any other technical protection measure, licence check or access control; capture, screen-record, download, copy, rip or re-encode a film or any part of it; make a film available to anyone else, including by sharing your account or sign-in links, publicly performing or broadcasting it, or redistributing it in any form; or use a film for any commercial purpose. Doing so ends your licence to the film, may lead to your account being closed, and may be unlawful.

If a filmmaker withdraws a film. Filmmakers can withdraw their films from Vidreno. If a film you rented or bought is unpublished, you keep your access: a rental continues until its period ends and a purchase keeps streaming. Your access ends only if the filmmaker's account is closed or the film is removed because it broke these terms or the law; in that case contact us and we will raise a refund with the payment provider where one is due.

Payment and refunds. Rentals and purchases are sold and charged by our payment provider, Polar, acting as merchant of record, under its own terms. Refunds are handled through Polar's refund policy; contact us through the contact form and we will raise the request with them. A refund ends your access to the film.

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Ensuring your content complies with applicable laws
• Respecting intellectual property rights
• Using the service in accordance with these terms

You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

Content Policy

You may not upload content that:

• Is illegal under applicable laws and regulations
• Infringes on intellectual property rights
• Contains illegal, harmful, or offensive material
• Violates privacy rights of others
• Contains malware or malicious code
• Is spam, deceptive, or misleading

We reserve the right to remove content that violates this policy without notice. Repeated violations may result in account termination.

Storage and Usage

Your account includes storage limits and monthly bandwidth allowances based on your subscription plan.

If you reach your plan's storage or bandwidth allowance, some service features may be paused until the allowance resets or you upgrade your plan.

Limitation of Liability

Vidreno is provided "as is" without any warranties. We are not liable for:

• Service interruptions or downtime
• Loss of content due to technical issues
• Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your account
• Any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages

Our maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. Upon termination:

• Your access to the service will cease
• Your content may be deleted after a reasonable grace period
• You remain responsible for any outstanding payments

We may terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date.

Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
