Synopsis

Starring IFTA Nominated actress, Jordanne Jones, alongside Ruby Connolly, Lara McIvor, and Sarah Niland Sticky Tape Productions present this edgy, coming-of-age drama written and directed by Anna Czarska. IFTA nominated, autistic actress Jordanne Jones plays a young woman on the autism spectrum who struggles with the world around her until the kindness of one person helps restore her self-confidence and changes her life. And is well worth seeking out." --The Newport Beach Independent "'Mildly Different' short film smashes normal expectations" -- Pynck Magazine Mission Statement: Mildly Different is a narrative short film made by, starring, and about autistic individuals to promote acceptance and understanding of atypical presentation of autism, usually found in autistic females. Awards: Mildly Different has won the "Audience Choice for Best Short Film" award from the Louth International Film Festival and the "Best Emerging Director" award from the IndieCork International Film Festival. The script has won Best Short Screenplay from the Changing Face International Film Festival, as well as been a finalist in the FM 104/Talent Nation 10k competition, a finalist in the LISP/London Independent Story Prize Short Screenplay Competition, and a finalist in the Waterford International Film Festival Screenwriting Competition. Music: Mildly Different features original music from award-winning composer Natasa Paulberg and licensed music from Irish chart-topping artist, Orla Gartland. Diversity and our film: Written, directed, and produced by a genderfluid (female-born), autistic artist, co-produced by a female producer, starring female actors in all leading roles, with a female composer, female production designer, and female costume designer. With all this, we managed to keep a 50/50 gender split on remaining roles. Many of our cast and crew, including our lead actress, are neurodiverse. Filmed on location in Ireland counties Dublin and Kildare. Mildly Different was primarily funded through community contributions and is also supported by the Art's Council Ireland's Disability Connect Scheme, managed by Arts & Disability Ireland.
