# Vidreno > Vidreno publishes films on demand: a film page with crew credits and a filmmaker profile, free to watch or sold as a purchase or a rental ("Films"). It also offers video hosting ("Host & Embed"): one of the most cost-effective ways to host video and play it on your own site or app, with generous bandwidth included in every plan. Vidreno is based in Douglas, Isle of Man. Vidreno is built for filmmakers first: a filmmaker publishes a film on its own page (the main film, a trailer, a poster, crew credits by department that link to filmmaker profiles at https://vidreno.com/filmmakers/) and releases it free to watch or sells it on demand as a purchase or a rental. Vidreno Dispatch is its filmmaking blog. Creators and developers also upload videos, get a shareable link and an embed code, and stream them worldwide over a global CDN. The marketing site and the application (sign up, log in, dashboard) both live on https://vidreno.com. Support goes through the contact form at https://vidreno.com/contact; signed-in users can also open a ticket from the ticket center at https://vidreno.com/support. There is no public support email address. Key facts: - Products: Films (publish a film free to watch, or sell it on demand as a purchase or a rental, with crew credits and filmmaker profiles) and video hosting ("Host & Embed": host videos and embed them on your own site or app). "On demand" describes the whole Films offering, free films included. - Two separate ways to use it: (1) publish films through Films, which needs no subscription: publishing and watching are free, and a sale costs a flat 10% of what is left after the payment processor's fee, with films hosted and delivered outside the plan limits; (2) host videos and embed or share them on your own site or app on the Free plan or a paid subscription, where the plan's storage and monthly bandwidth limits apply. - Pricing: Films are free to publish and watch; film sales cost a flat 10% of what is left after the payment processor's fee. Video hosting has three plans starting at $0 per month (Free, Standard at $12/mo, Premium at $59/mo), each with a storage limit and a monthly bandwidth allowance. No hidden fees. - Location: Douglas, Isle of Man. - Company: Vidreno is built and run by Massive Monkey Ltd. (https://massivemonkey.io), an independent software company based in Douglas, Isle of Man, that also builds Shopify apps and SaaS products. Massive Monkey Ltd. was founded in 2020; that date is the company's founding, not Vidreno's launch, which is not published. - Founder: William Sutton, founder of Vidreno and Director & Founder of Massive Monkey Ltd. - Contact: the form at https://vidreno.com/contact, or a ticket from the ticket center at https://vidreno.com/support when signed in. - Help center: https://vidreno.com/tutorials, with guides on getting started, uploading, sharing and embedding, and troubleshooting. - For AI agents: an MCP server at https://vidreno.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1 with PKCE) is live for Claude, Cursor or any OAuth-capable MCP client; the ChatGPT app is coming soon. Connect it to manage the connected creator's own films and hosted videos by chatting. Films: create a draft from a title, list and inspect them (status, free to watch or buy/rent, prices, plays, credits), change details, release mode and prices, publish or unpublish with the film editor's checklist, add, edit, remove, reorder and invite crew credits (or convert older director and cast lines into credits), set extra links, take a trailer off a film, and upload a main film or trailer through a browser hand-off link (films are never embeddable; posters, avatars and deleting a film stay in the app). Profile: read and edit the creator's filmmaker profile (username, display name, bio, location, roles, website and social links, public toggle) and accept, decline or unlink credits other filmmakers gave them. Projects: create, edit, publish and close the creator's own projects (crew calls; public, or private and invite only) with their roles and pay, read the applications with each applicant's public profile card and note, shortlist, accept or decline with a message and reply in the thread; search open roles across live public projects (text, department or role, country, remote, pay type, project type), apply as the creator with a note and links, follow and withdraw applications (invites and cover images stay in the app). Earnings, read-only: balance, film-sales and ad earnings, per-order film sales without buyer identity, payout history and the masked payout method (cashing out stays in the app). Hosted videos: list, inspect, rename, change visibility, delete, get embed codes, read analytics and upload (through a browser hand-off link, or from a video attached in ChatGPT); https://vidreno.com/mcp-server explains what creators can ask. Discovery and credential details are in https://vidreno.com/auth.md; the creator-facing guide (adding the connector, the consent screen, uploads, disconnecting) is https://vidreno.com/tutorials/manage-your-videos-from-chatgpt. - Films apps and content protection: Films (not Host & Embed videos) can be watched in native apps: a Vidreno desktop app for macOS (one download for Intel and Apple silicon; the download link is coming soon) and Windows (in development) is described at https://vidreno.com/desktop-app; the Apple TV app (https://vidreno.com/apple-tv-app) is coming soon and the mobile app for iOS and Android (https://vidreno.com/mobile-app) is coming soon. Content protection is coming as an optional, per-film switch: a filmmaker will tick "Protect this film" in the film settings and the film will stream with hardware-backed DRM (Apple FairPlay on Apple platforms, Google Widevine elsewhere) from Vidreno's own licence server, so screenshots and screen recordings of the player show black on supported devices; protected films will play first in Safari on Mac and the Vidreno desktop app for Mac, with the Windows desktop app, the Apple TV app, the mobile app for iPhone and iPad, the mobile app for Android and Chrome, Firefox and Edge to follow. It costs nothing extra and a film stays in the clear until its protected version is ready; details at https://vidreno.com/drm. - Earn (beta): creators opt in per film or hosted video and earn when advertisers place a dismissible ad on the player; advertisers prepay credit and pay per 1,000 impressions, priced per ad format. The live figures are on https://vidreno.com/earn and https://vidreno.com/advertise. Earnings are not guaranteed. How it works: 1. Drag and drop a file on the dashboard (MP4, MOV, AVI and more, up to 1 TB per file). The upload starts immediately. 2. The video is processed for playback on the global CDN and is ready for up to 8K, 60 FPS, 10-bit delivery. 3. Copy the direct link or the embed code with one click and paste it wherever you need it. Features: - Bandwidth value: a generous monthly bandwidth allowance is part of every plan, including Free, rather than a surprise line item at the end of the month. - Global edge CDN: 200+ edge locations. Videos are served from the edge closest to each viewer, so they start quickly worldwide. - Easy embeds: one copy-and-paste iframe works in any website, app or CMS. No SDK required. - Developer-first: simple integration built for developers and creators who need reliable embedding. - Instant setup: create an account, upload your first video, share the link or embed. No configuration, approval process or onboarding. - Secure by default, with private videos and custom branding on every plan. - Analytics on every plan: basic (Free), advanced (Standard), comprehensive (Premium). - Playback up to 8K (including 8K DCI) at 60 FPS and 10-bit colour on every plan; on Standard and Premium, adaptive streaming encodes each upload into 8K / 4K / 1080p / 720p / 480p / 360p versions (as far up as the source allows) and the original file is always kept. Embed options (available in the embed modal for every video): - Responsive sizing that auto-scales to the container, or fixed dimensions when you need pixel control. - Player controls: autoplay, loop, muted start, rounded corners on or off, fullscreen on or off. - Advanced: Picture-in-Picture, AirPlay and Encrypted Media, ready out of the box. - Embed URLs take the form https://vidreno.com/embed/. Example: ``. The query parameters `radius=0` (square corners) and `allowfullscreen=0` (no fullscreen button) are optional. Typical use cases: tutorials and walkthroughs, company ads, product demos, course content, and hosting video inside your own app or website pages without copyright or music-restriction blocks. Pricing (USD; these plans cover hosting and embedding on your own site or app, and publishing or selling films does not require one; bandwidth allowances are per month and reset each month): - Free: $0/mo. 20 MB storage, 50 GB bandwidth per month, basic analytics, private videos, custom branding, video up to 8K, 60 FPS, 10-bit (plays the original file). For casual creators. - Standard: $12/mo. 10 GB storage, 5 TB bandwidth per month, advanced analytics, private videos, custom branding, video up to 8K, 60 FPS, 10-bit, adaptive quality playback. The most popular plan, for growing creators. - Premium: $59/mo. 1 TB storage, 50 TB bandwidth per month, comprehensive analytics, private videos, custom branding, video up to 8K, 60 FPS, 10-bit, adaptive quality playback. For professional creators. If a plan's storage or bandwidth allowance is reached, some service features may be paused until the allowance resets or the plan is upgraded. Films and selling on demand (/films and /on-demand): - Every film gets its own page with the player, a trailer, the poster, crew credits grouped by department and the filmmaker's profile; credits link to filmmaker profiles, and collaborators not yet on Vidreno can be invited to claim a credit. Films are free to watch or sold as a purchase or a rental, chosen per film and changeable later. /on-demand covers selling films on demand and is positioned as a Vimeo On Demand alternative. - Vimeo On Demand timeline, per Vimeo's own notice (https://vimeo.com/ondemand/shutdown, checked 6 October 2026): new uploads blocked 22 August 2026; new purchases and subscriptions blocked 21 September 2026; final seller payouts 24 September 2026; full shutdown 20 November 2026. Per Vimeo's seller FAQ (https://vimeo.com/ondemand/faq/sellers, checked 6 October 2026): final payouts have a stated completion date of 24 September 2026 and go automatically to the seller's registered payment method with no action needed; balances below the payout threshold are paid as an exception; earnings, tax and payout questions go to Vimeo Support. Vimeo notifies viewers of the shutdown itself and offers to tell buyers where a seller went only if the seller moves to Vimeo OTT; viewer access to purchases ends 20 November 2026 (download beforehand if the seller enabled downloads) and rentals expire on their original schedule or on that date, whichever comes first. Vimeo points sellers to Vimeo OTT, a separate product with per-subscriber and per-transaction fees; Vidreno is an alternative with a flat 10% of what is left after the payment processor's fee, and no subscription. Vimeo, Vimeo On Demand and Vimeo OTT are trademarks of Vimeo.com, Inc.; Vidreno is not affiliated with Vimeo. - Ways to release a film: Free to watch (no price, no paywall), Buy (one-time purchase; viewers own it for good) and Rent (time-limited access for premieres, screenings and drops). Buy and rent can be offered together. - The payment processor's fee comes off the price before tax first; Vidreno then takes 10% of what is left and the creator keeps the other 90%. Nothing else is deducted, and free films cost nothing. Set a price, share a link, get paid. Sell what you make and price it how you like. - No subscription or hosting plan is required to publish or sell films. Films are hosted and delivered outside the plan storage and bandwidth limits; a flat 10% of what is left after the payment processor's fee is the only cost. ## Pages - [Home](https://vidreno.com/): Filmmaker-first overview: a film page demo, how publishing works (upload, credits and profile, publish free or on demand, share the link), filmmaker profiles and crew credits, the latest Vidreno Dispatch posts, Host & Embed on your own site, a pricing summary and sign-up. - [Films](https://vidreno.com/films): The Films product page: a page for every film, free to watch or buy and rent (chosen per film), the main film and trailer, credits by department, filmmaker profiles and invitations, the latest Dispatch posts, and links to the selling detail on /on-demand. - [Projects](https://vidreno.com/projects): Vidreno Projects: the films filmmakers are making next and the roles they need. Runs in the browser; nothing pasted is sent to a server; no account needed. - [Video bandwidth calculator](https://vidreno.com/tools/video-bandwidth-calculator): Enter a video's length, a quality preset (typical web-delivery bitrates, each editable: 360p 1 Mbps, 480p 2.5 Mbps, 720p 5 Mbps, 1080p 8 Mbps, 1440p 16 Mbps, 2160p 40 Mbps) or its file size, plus views a month and the average share watched, and get the data per full view, the estimated GB per month (binary GB, as the plan allowances are measured) and whether each Vidreno hosting plan's included monthly bandwidth covers it (Free 50 GB, Standard 5 TB, Premium 50 TB), with the views of that video each allowance covers. Runs in the browser; nothing entered is sent to a server; no account needed. - [Film credits generator](https://vidreno.com/tools/film-credits-generator): Add the people who worked on a film and their roles (presets grouped by department, or a custom role) and get a credits list in the standard order: Direction & writing, Production, Camera & lighting, Sound & music, Art & design, Post-production, Performance (cast); presets in their listed order, custom roles after the presets of their department, names in the order entered. A Cast first switch moves the cast to the top (opening-credits style); rows can also be arranged by hand. Copy the list or download it as a .txt file. Runs in the browser and keeps the list in the browser's local storage only; nothing pasted is sent to a server; no account needed. ## Get started - [Create a free account](https://vidreno.com/register): Sign up for the Free plan or choose Standard or Premium. - [Log in](https://vidreno.com/login): Access an existing Vidreno account and dashboard. ## Optional - [Terms of Service](https://vidreno.com/terms): Service description, content policy, and storage and bandwidth allowance rules. - [Privacy Policy](https://vidreno.com/privacy): How Vidreno collects, uses and protects personal information. - [Sitemap](https://vidreno.com/sitemap.xml): XML sitemap of the public pages and every published article. - [Articles feed](https://vidreno.com/articles/feed.xml): RSS feed of the articles, newest first, with the full text of the latest posts. - [auth.md](https://vidreno.com/auth.md): Agent discovery file explaining how Vidreno accounts and sign-in work (interactive registration, email + password login) and how agents connect through the MCP server at https://vidreno.com/mcp with OAuth 2.1: metadata documents, endpoints, scopes and what the tools can and cannot do.
